ITEM1:
-
Racial discrimination
-
ANALYSIS: It’s very clear that this
video has bias. Firstly, you can see 2 opposite person: one white policeman and
one black man. Secondly, the police man says to the black man that: “ You are
going to be arrested……..because you are a black……black people steal.” . The
black says that “ he wasn’t stealing anything. The police reply that “ just in
case”.It means that all the black people are accused to be stealers. In fact,
the numbers of stealers are not dependent on the race.=> racial
discrimination

ITEM2:
-
Stereotype
-
ALNALYSIS: In
the picture, there are a lot of characteristics of British that many people
will think about when mentioning the British. These are stereotypes of British.
ITEM3:
-
Scapegoating
-
ANALYSIS :In the news, the language the
author and Dr Pham Xuan Hai used are very emotive such as “tội đồ, kẻ, chiếm đất,
thủ phạm..(culprit, land encroaching...). The purpose of using this kind of language
is to totally accuse the motorcycle of causing traffic jam. However, in fact,
there are a lot of reasons for traffic jam. They shouldn’t accuse the motorcycle
as the only one reason.
ITEM4:
Cheapest
is the dearest
-Prejudice
-ANALYSIS: It’s really a negative judgment
that all the cheap things are very bad. Many cheap things are quite good in
quality (or you can understand not all the cheapest are dearest). This conclusion is based on the opinion of some people, not based on knowledge
of the facts.

ADDITION: ( A clip about racial discrimination in real life J
)
As far as i concern, your item 4 has prejudice is correct, but the analysis has some mistake, i think. First, as our teacher had said, prejudice should be the bad thought of many people, not some. Further more, it should be based on the fact. In my opinion, "Cheapest is the dearest" is the fact but this idea is bias because not all the cheapest is the dearest. :)
ReplyDeletein item 2, i think you should analyse more to show the bias. From the image, you can see many characteristics of the British which are the views of many different people. Their opinions are stated without paying attention to individual differences, so it's not true for all the British :D
ReplyDeletethank you very much my dear :)
