Entry 3_ Bui Thi Hoai Thuong
ENTRY 3
Identifying Bias
-
Stereotype
- Analysis: This ad shows us that it is such a weak
woman that couldn’t open ketchup bottle. It is a stereotype that all women
are weak.
ITEM 2:
-
Prejudice.
-
Analysis: The picture expresses the negative attitude of the Vietnamese
toward products made in China.
ITEM 3:
-
Discrimination
-
Analysis: The picture expresses the racial discrimination through the
line separating the white people’s area and the black people’s one. Moreover,
while the white people use golden forks and knifes, the black people use normal
ones and even the man in indigo eats by hands.

Hi there,
ReplyDeleteIn my opiniom, the Item 1 also contains a prejudice in it: all women are weak.
I think your entry is quite good. I have same idea that item 1 contain just stereotype. In addition, I suggest that you should choose different types of examples like video or newspaper, do not just choose image.
ReplyDeleteI mean the item 1 contains steorype and prejudice
ReplyDeleteI think the bias in item 2 is discrimination
ReplyDeletei agree with Quan, the bias in item 2 is discrimination bacause the man has already worn the T-shirt with the claim that it isn't made in china.
ReplyDeleteTuong Vi
i think, your item 1 also contains prejudice.
Deleteit is easier to open the ketchup bottle with aluminum caps.
so, " you mean a woman (or a weak person) can open it?": stereotype.
" you mean a woman (or a unintelligent person" can open it?": prejudice
